THE 30TH ANNUAL DAYTIME
EMMY AWARDS ON ABC
Art Linkletter Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
NEW YORK, NY – May 16, 2003 – The 30th Annual Daytime
Emmy Awards were presented by the National Academy of Television
Arts and Sciences at Radio City Music
Hall tonight and broadcast live on
the ABC Television Network (8-11 PM, EST). Wayne Brady hosted the show.Some
of the evening’s
highlights included “TV Guide’s 10 Most Memorable Daytime
TV Moments,” an all-star band featuring
some of daytime’s favorite stars and a tribute to the late Fred
Rogers of “Mister Rogers Neighborhood.”
Daytime Emmy Awards were presented
for performances and programs in 18 categories, including
Outstanding Lead Actor/Actress in
a Drama Series, Outstanding Game Show Host, Outstanding
Talk Show, Outstanding Childrens’ Series and Best Drama Series. The
Lifetime Achievement
Award was presented to Art Linkletter, former host of “Kids Say
the Darndest Things.” Mr. Linkletter
has won 2 Emmy Awards and been nominated for 4 Emmy Awards.
The telecast was produced by White
Cherry Entertainment. The 30th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards
is a presentation of The National Television Academy in cooperation
with The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
On May 10th, Daytime Emmy
Awards were presented primarily in the creative arts categories at
the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City and
at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Los
Angeles. The Daytime Emmy Awards are presented to daytime television
programs broadcast between the hours of 2:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. The
eligibility period for all awards was January 1, 2002 through December 31, 2002.
