DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES FOR BUSINESS AND FINANCIAL EMMY AWARD CATEGORIES EXTENDED TO SEPTEMBER 15. On May 30, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced four new News & Documentary Emmy Award categories honoring business and financial reporting. The competition is open to any nationally broadcast news or documentary program dealing with a business, economic or financial topic. Please note that the deadline for entries has been extended to September 15, 2003. To be eligible, programs or reports must have been available to over 50% of national television households, and must have first aired during the fiscal year, July 1 to June 30, 2003. Since many broadcasters may have entered business-related stories in other News & Documentary Emmy categories before the business areas were announced, for this year only, entries that were previously entered in the 24th Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards and were not nominated may also be entered in this year’s Business Emmy competition. Entry materials are available and can be obtained by visiting the News & Documentary Emmy Awards webpage at http://www.emmyonline.org/emmy/docu.html , or by contacting David Winn at 212-484-9424 or newsemmy@natasonline.com . Below are brief descriptions of the new categories. We look forward to receiving your entries. • Outstanding Coverage of a Current Business News Story- This

Entry tapes may run no more than 20 minutes and include no more than three as-aired excerpts. • Outstanding Interpretation and/or Analysis of a Business News Story - Good business reporting often stresses the reporter's analysis of a story. The emphasis in this category is on the ability, with or without graphics and file footage, to explain a current business news story in terms that the average viewer can understand.
