To Comcast Founder Ralph
J. Roberts
Honorary Dinner to be
held in Washington, D.C. June 5
NEW YORK June 3, 2003 The National Academy of Television
Arts and Sciences announced today that for the first time in four years,
it will present one of its most prestigious awards, the Trustees Award. This
years recipient, Ralph J. Roberts, Comcast Founder and Chairman of
Comcasts Executive and Finance Committee, joins such luminaries as
William Paley, Walter Cronkite, and President John F. Kennedy, among
others.
The presentation will be made at the National Television Academys Annual Trustees
Meeting during an honorary dinner at the National Building Museum in Washington,
D.C. on June 5, 2003. Leading government officials and television
industry executives from around the world are expected to attend. Media and business entrepreneur Ted Turner
will introduce Roberts, and CNNs Lou Dobbs will emcee the tribute.
Comcast Corporation,
the cable television company that Mr. Roberts founded four decades
ago with a 1,200-subscriber system in Mississippi, recently completed
the acquisition of AT&T Broadband to become the nations largest
cable television system operator. The companys commerce and content businesses include QVC,
Comcast-Spectacor, Comcast SportsNet, E! Entertainment Television,
Style, The Golf Channel, Outdoor Life Network and G4.
Ralph Roberts personifies all the attributes that the
Trustees Award was designed to recognize. He
is not only an accomplished business executive but also
a true pioneer of his industry, said Peter O. Price, President, the
National Television Academy. In addition to his business and entrepreneurial

commitment to philanthropy makes him deserving of the Academys highest
recognition.
