THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS AND SCIENCES is committed to education as part of its larger mission of promoting excellence in broadcasting. Through scholarships programs and National Student Television, the Foundation of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is committed to inspiring the next generation of broadcast journalists, educating television viewers, and advancing television best practices.

The Foundation of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences was established in October, 2002, to support and advance the educational initiatives of the Academy and its chapters around the country.

Now in its fifth year, the National Student Television Award for Excellence encourages journalistic skills among high school students .This nation-wide program uses a curriculum based on two books by Av Westin . In 2007, winners were recognized in seven categories at the regional and national levels. The National winners were honored at a ceremony in New York City.

Stanley Hubbard, Chairman of Hubbard Broadcasting and past Chairman of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, serves as the Foundation's Chair. Distinguished television journalist Av Westin serves as the Foundation's Executive Director.
