THE 29th ANNUAL SPORTS EMMY ® AWARDS REMINDERS
Please be aware of the following:
1. We will continue the three categories for programming/content
created for Broadband and portable delivery. Entries can be produced
by anyone, anywhere in the world for viewing either on mobile devices
or the internet. Entries must be original work first shown on broadband
distribution and must be produced for distribution in the United States
market. (Pornography, violent defamatory or offensive material,
commercials and infomercials, Video News Releases (VNR), pseudonews
presentations, and gambling games are excluded) To accommodate
our broadband and portable delivery constituents and facilitate judging,
all entrants are asked to submit their materials online. This will enable
judges to get a better sense of just how the entry looks and functions in
its native environment. (See page 13 for URL preparation.). Judges will
be notified via email when their panels are ready for viewing.
2. For all other categories, we accept submissions on DVD only. We no
longer accept VHS tape. Two DVDs, an original and a copy, are
required for each entry. Entry DVDs must be playable on a standard
home DVD player. (See page 11 for DVD preparation.)
3. We will continue a two step judging process for the Edited Special
and Documentary categories. Two sets of DVDs (short and long)
and entry forms for each are required. The nominees and winners will
be selected in the second round of screenings by a new set of panelists.
4. Entry Forms. Please note the changes to entry forms. All entries must
submit airdates and a short description. (See page 9 of rulebook.)
These will be given to judging panels.
5. Judging Process. All of the 2008 panels will have only one representative
from each corporate entity. For example, Time Warner (HBO,
TNT,TBS); Disney (ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Classic); CBS(CBS,
CSTV, Showtime); NBC Universal (NBC, USA); NFL (NFL Films, NFL
Network); News Corporation (Fox, FoxSportsNet).
6. Judging Process. The 2008 Broadband panels will be judged at home
via the internet. Judges will be notified via email. Judges will have
two weeks to complete their panels. Entries will be voted on via paper
ballots which may be faxed to the accountants.:
